In this individual assignment, we are planning to produce a “Travel Guide Pamphlet” as an info-pack about the city or town tour to our friends from FNBE whom are planning to visit our city/hometown for a few days during a short semester break.

PROGRESSION

WEEK 1

During the first week, I have made some draft for the introduction. I have chose my hometown, penang while for the township, I have chose Georgetown which is a famous tourist spot in Penang.  The paper I used is watercolour paper which I only use one side of the paper as I have used the another side of the paper for another assignment before. At the same time, I have tried various way to glue my paper to make it looks like a professional travel pamphlet.

WEEK 2

During this week, I have started my micro part, which is the building style of Unesco site Georgetown Penang. I have did some researches about the shophouse topology in Unesco World Heritage Zone of Georgetown as this zone is famous of its shophouse and the clan jetties. After some researching, I start to make some drafts on paper.

WEEK 3

In this week, I have continued my micro part, road circulation, infrastructures, facilities and public spaces. Before proceed to infrastructures and the rest of the micro part, I have applied some colours for road circulation using highlighters to indicate primary road, secondary road and tertiary road. I have used the same map to label the infrastructures and so on without colouring it..

WEEK 4

During this week, I have proceed to the intangible components and conclusion for 3 pages that required in this assignment. As you can see, I have printed pictures that I couldn't draw out for some part of intangible components.

WEEK 5

This week is our submission week, thus I have  to colour all my pages using watercolour. Furthermore, I have double checked my work in case I need to add up more things inside.

DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
In this assignment, I was able to apply the theories I learned in class and also the research into my work. With the information I have searched online, I could learn about the tangible components and the intangible components that are available in my city or township.

LIFELONG LEARNING
Over the course of assignment, I was able to push myself in order to complete this assignment perfectly on time. As this assignment require huge amount of time on drawing and colouring, thus I have to set a timeline for myself and to follow it, and I was able to do so. Moreover, I could extract and locate the information I have into the assignment.
Upon reflection, I did learn a lot of lesson from this assignment. I have learned on how to identify the different elements of the built environment and different characteristics of the built environment. The hardest thing I have found in this assignment was the time management. As I mentioned above, this assignment requires a lot of map drawing and it's time consuming, luckily that I was able to follow my timeline and finish it before the submission date. Although it was a tough assignment, but I was quite satisfied for the outcome.
