SEMESTER TWO
Intoduction
This module introduces the principles and methods of analysis, abstraction, and synthesis in design thinking that are common to many design fields, including building and architecture. The key emphasis of the studio is “User and Context”, which investigates the relationship between user and natural environment.
This module requires us to develop understanding on Asian architecture and urbanism and interpret Asian architectural language through research poster and oral presentation. We get to learn about the tangible and intangible components happened around us.
This module intends to inform the students on the basic building construction and materials used in the construction of small to medium scale buildings. It focuses on developing an understanding of the principle of the building elements which include the substructure and superstructure and common construction materials such as concrete, masonry, timber, metal, and glass.
The module introduces the components of environmental conditions and issues. It focuses on human intervention affecting the environment both positively and negatively and the relationship of buildings with the natural system. Additionally, the module introduces the basic elements of climate and their influences on architecture, which aims to create acceptable environmentally conscious and comfortable building designs.
