The knowledge of built environment and to apply it is so important for the people living in the city. Favela in Rio, Brazil, Rocinha shows how important is the planning of a city. Favela in Rio, Brazil has such impact buildings which built by the local builders and master planners without the help or design from the government, that's why it is the densest favela in Latin America. Rocinha has all the problem: sanitation, access to quality housing, and narrow streets where polices can't go drug traffickers settled in Rocinha. Government there don't involve in the city planning, which causes the local architects decided to build their own houses like Ricardo did in the video. He built his house for his family, stairs, supermarkets and flats.

BUILT ENVIRONMENT IS SO VITAL THAT MAKES SPACES IN A CITY.

We need spaces to live, to stay healthy, to have fun. Spaces can allow people to access to everywhere, allow the residents to make greenary garden between the buildings and allow the locals to enjoy making art in the spaces. In Rocinha, there are all narrow streets which contain a lots of trash that threw by the neighborhood.

BUILT ENVIRONMENT IS IMPORTANT THAT MAKES CITY LOOKS ORGANIZED.

We have to consider the demands of a city before we started to build the city. The organization is important for every city so that the visual doesn't looks messy and gives a fresh look or comfort for the residents to stay there. If a city looks densely and chaotic, it always give a bad impression and the tourists may feel unsafe to visit there. The infrastructure in a city is also be in consideration so that the locals don't need to waste a lot of money and time to drive to the destination.

BUILT ENVIRONMENT KNOWLEDGE IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A CLEAN AND HEALTHY CITY.

The sewage system is the key for residents' health. Unlike in Rocinha, all the sewage goes through the centre of the favela. All the houses throw water, sewage, soapy water, fatty water into one canal, which then goes out to the beach in Sao Conrado. Government neglected it and didn't take action to treat them, that's why people get spots on their skin. This shows how a proper and clean sewage system need to be considered in built environment.
