ASSIGNMENT 1: DESIGN ELEMENTS
TASK
In this assignment, we are to understand the basic design elements: Points, Lines, Planes, Volume and to identify them in interior space of a buildings. After that, we have to use the shapes and voids from the picture we selected from part 1 and to create space and volumes within a A5 size base and height of 15cm. Other than that, we have to consider the materials that we using to have a good workmanship.
During week 1, I've finalized the object that I want to draw which are astronaut for cat 1 and hot glue gun for cat 2. Moreover, I have taken some pictures of the items in different view.
PROGRESSION
TASK 1
After the assignment brief, I started to search for interior space of a building that I like on pinterest. Then, according to the brief, I identified the points in the picture using dots, and constructed the lines by connecting the points to create patterns.
TASK 2
After identifying the points, lines and patterns, I chose the picture I liked the most and create 3D forms using the pattern in the picture. At this point, we are required to do mock-up models to test out the scales and proportions. At the same time, I started to plan out my ppt slides in order to explain my conceptual ideas.

TASK 3
As our assignment required us to have minimum 2 mock-up models, I have to further develop my model. So, I added planes and test out the asymmetrical balance as well as the symmetrical balance.

In addition, I tested out asymmetrical balance concept on my mock-up model 3 by adding planes at different locations.

REFLECTION
Through this assignment, the TGCs I have acquired are:
DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
In this assignment, I understood well on how to make spaces and build a model with our creativity. After the lectures and tutorials of making a model, I found it easily that we can make a mock up in a short time. Other than that, with the lines and planes intersecting, I can see the interesting pattern on my model.
LIFELONG LEARNING
I have acquired this skill during the assignment timeline, because the first thing I have achieved is that I can pass up my ppt slides on time, as well as the weekly progress that I shared to my tutor every week. Besides that, I also applied the design principles taught by my lecture into my model which I think it's helpful in this assignment.
Upon reflection, I would say that this assignment is a intro for us although it is a new thing I was unable to explore before I enter this foundation. Firstly, when I start to do the models, I found that time management is important as making a model will waste your time if you are distracted. In overall, I think that this assignment is quite freestyle as we are following the patterns that we created in task 1.
